One day while eating Bassett’s Licorice Candy, l started to draw the candy pieces in different pastel colors, stretched directions, layers, and truncated forms. Feminism, like candy, comes in many arrangements, configurations, and sensitivities. Exploring the candy has changed my perspective and celebrates the “bitter sweet” in life itself. • Candy Japonisme contains pink pillow-y candy forms with tiny animals hiding within, while waves and foam crash alongside. • Candy Impressions in pastel reveals life full of cotton candy pinks and sour grapes. • Feminine Candy Forms. After eating the sweet licorice, I started to pull my candy forms into oval lips, then rotated the image to find feminine hips.
