Each fall, the Women’s Caucus selects an artist to serve as juror for its annual exhibition and guest speaker for a companion NAEA Convention session. Jean Shin, this year’s artist/juror, is nationally recognized for her monumental installations that transform everyday objects into elegant expressions of identity and community. Her work has been widely exhibited in major national and international museums, including solo exhibitions at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona, Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC, the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, and Projects at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in the United States, Shin attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1999 and received a BFA and MS from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Participate in an audience discussion about this year’s exhibition and how artists/researchers/teachers document, respond to, and inspire change.

Each year the NAEA Women’s Caucus hosts a BYOB breakfast during which an artist local to the convention area speaks about her work. The speaker also juries the Women’s Caucus exhibition. A small honorarium is offered for these services, making it important that the artist be local. This year’s speaker is artist and author, Anne Elizabeth Moore, a nationally recognized Chicago based artist, who will discuss her work.
